THE OLD.....

New Romney is an old historical cinque port. The sea used to come up to the church wall untill one night in 1287ad there was a great storm which changed the river Rother's course forever.

Smuggling is prominent in the New Inn's history, with tunnels running under the high street, pub and beer gardens to the church and old assembly rooms.

Local legend has it that a young girl was found hanged in the New Inn in the 1700's and that her ghostly form can be seen walking the rooms, bars and passageways.
